Mary O'Connor

March 18, 1928 — April 10, 2017

Mary (nee Reilly) O'Connor, 89, of New Milford, NJ, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully Monday, April 10, 2017. She was born March 18, 1928, in County Cavan, Ireland and came to America in 1950. She was a parishioner of Ascension Church in New Milford. She enjoyed family gatherings, Irish dances, and the N.Y. Mets. Beloved wife to the late Jeremiah J. O'Connor. Devoted mother to son Kevin P. O'Connor, daughter MaryAnne, her husband Joseph Johnson, and predeceased children John, Jeremiah, Patrick and Timothy; and was a surrogate mother to Kathleen Van Houten. Adoring grandmother to Jenna Meny, Dylan Meny and Angelina O'Connor. Mary is also survived by her sisters Kathleen, Peggy, Rosaleen; brothers James and Benny, many brother and sister-in-laws, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family & friends both here and abroad. The family will receive visitors on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 3-7pm at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S. Washington Ave, Bergenfield, NJ. Funeral prayer service will be held Saturday, 11:30am at the Chapel of St. Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "The Muscular Dystrophy Association" or "The St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital".
