Agneta Helen Hofverberg, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 29th in Bergenfield, NJ.
Agneta was born on August 3rd, 1954 in Sundsvall, Sweden and emigrated with her family to New York in 1958. They settled in Freeport, Long Island and Agneta graduated from Freeport High School in 1972. She then graduated from the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, as well as the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Agneta spent her career, and traveled extensively worldwide, in the textile and menswear industries, including Cotton, Inc., Hart Schaffner Marx, and American Trouser.
Agneta was preceded in death by her father Bengt Ake Hofverberg in 2011, mother Anita Svensson Hofverberg in 2019, and brother Bengt Ake Hofverberg, Jr. in 1995. She is survived by her husband of forty years, David Elliott of Bergenfield, NJ, son Christopher Elliott (Aly) of Richmond, VA, and daughter Olivia Elliott of Brooklyn, NY, as well as four grandchildren Charlotte, Julia, Bennett, and Knox. She is also survived by her brother Ulf Hofverberg (Jane) of Chichester, NY.
A private family memorial service will be held at the Church of Sweden, 5 E. 48th St., in New York City on Saturday, June 27th at 2:00 PM. Donations in her honor can be made to Friends of Bergenfield Public Library https://www.bergenfieldlibrary.org/friends-of-the-bf-library/ or mailed to Friends of the Bergenfield Library, 50 W. Clinton Ave., Bergenfield, NJ 07621.
