Aida Mae Kelly

Aida Mae Kelly, 84, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, in Cresskill, New Jersey, after a courageous and prolonged illness. She was sustained throughout that journey by the constant love of her family and the kindness of dear friends, who surrounded her with compassion, comfort, and unwavering support until the very end.

Born on December 29, 1941, in Tayug, Pangasinan, Philippines, Aida Mae was raised by her beloved mother, Honorata Acampado. She grew up surrounded by a close-knit family, a deep faith, and a love of music—foundations that shaped the compassionate, joyful woman she would become.

Aida Mae graduated from Philippine Women’s University before embarking on a new chapter of her life in the United States in 1969. She built a distinguished career at the United Nations, where she worked for many years in the Dag Hammarskjöld Library. She took great pride in her work and in the opportunities her new country afforded her and her family.

Those who knew Aida Mae will remember her for her boundless kindness, unwavering generosity, and fierce devotion to the people she loved. Though she stood just 4 feet 11 inches tall, her spirit was immeasurable. She had a vibrant personality, a warm smile, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and cared for. Her strength, resilience, and sense of humor touched countless lives, and her love for her family was the center of everything she did.

Aida Mae is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, James F. Kelly; her cherished daughter, Janice M. Savage (née Kelly) and her husband James R. Savage; and her beloved granddaughters, Norah Kelly Savage and Hannah Grace Savage. She also leaves behind extended family and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love, kindness, and enduring friendship.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Riewerts Memorial Home on Sunday, August 2, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church on Monday, August 3, at 10:00 a.m.

Though she will be deeply missed, Aida Mae’s legacy of love, generosity, resilience, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
