Aju Varghese was born on May 25, 1967 in Nallanikunnu, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India. Daughter of the late Mr. John Kunjandy, retired teacher, of the Malayattu Mannil Veedu, Karavaloor, Punalur and the late Mrs.Saramma John, retired headmistress, of the Villayil Vadekethil house, Nallanikunnu, Pathanamthitta. She graduated from Arya Bharathi High School
in Omalloor then went on to finish her pre-degree and first bachelors degree in Zoology at Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta. After finishing her bachelors, she obtained her diploma in Pharmacy from the University of Kerala with first rank and started her career as a pharmacist at Pushpagiri Medical College in Thiruvalla. On January 11, 1990, she married Saji Abraham
Varghese of Manalethu Pawothil Padical house in Kallissery, Chengannur at St. Thomas Orthodox Valliya Palli. She then immigrated to the United States to join her husband on June 6, 1992 and settled in Bergen County, New Jersey where they have resided for the past 30 years. She went on to graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Dominican College in Orangeburg, New York in May of 1999 and later attended Rutgers University Newark to obtain
her Masters degree in Nursing. Her nursing career spanned 22 years during which she worked in multiple different fields consisting of geriatrics, orthopedics and medsurg. Hospital for Special Surgery, Spectrum for Living, and Isabella Geriatric Center are just a few of the many places she
worked throughout her career. Aju was a loving and dedicated mother of three children; Akhil, Stephanie and Tiffany and the oldest of three sisters; Mrs. Jessy Sabu John and Mrs. Jency Mathew John. Aju was one of the founding members of the St. George Malankara Orthodox Church in Ridgefield Park, NJ. She was an active member of the church and served as the Sunday School Principal and was a member of the Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam. A dedicated follower of Christ; she was always helping those in need in any way possible. In her free time, she loved to garden and create new recipes. Aju was known for her kind demeanor, loving heart, and graceful guidance. Her home and dinner table were open to family and friends at any time. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
