Andrew J. Krivda

Krivda, Andrew John, 84 of Bergenfield, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty, Andrew is survived by his son Eric and daughter-in-law Nancy of Hackettstown, NJ, his daughters Donna Krivda of Bergenfield, Lori Krivda of Milford, CT, and Janice Kirby and son-in-law Jeff Kirby of Somers, CT. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Erica Krivda of Riverdale, NJ. , Adam Hinds and Alex Hinds of Somers, CT. Andrew was an Army corporal and a proud member of the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, NC during the Korean conflict. After the Army he worked as a stone-lathe polisher for American Art Stone in Cliffside Park NJ. He later joined the Bergen County Sheriff's Department as a Corrections Officer at the County Jail in Hackensack. He was a member of the "Midnight Dawgs" as the officers on the midnight shift called themselves. He retired in 2000 but had many tales to tell about a job he loved. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to everyone who kept our family in their thoughts and prayers during these past several months. The family also wishes to convey its thanks to the exceptional staff at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center for their kindness, compassion and professionalism throughout Andy's illness. Also a very special thanks to Andy's nurse Danielle Chiu and VNA Hospice Care for helping us so he could be at home and surrounded by loved ones. We are so very grateful and truly blessed.
