Anna B. Burkart (nee Hammett), 90, of Bergenfield passed away on March 6, 2016. From 1966 through 1990 she was the Crossing Guard at E. Englewood Ave. and So. Washington Ave. for the Bergenfield Police Department. An active member of Clinton Avenue Reformed Church, she enjoyed making ornaments for the annual Christmas Tree for over 35 yrs. She participated in the Feeding the Homeless Program and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association. Together with her beloved husband Willard they loved traveling in their motor home throughout the USA. Everyone affectionately called her "BA". Devoted wife of the late former Police Chief Willard (Bill) C. Burkart. Devoted mother of Martha A. Richter and her husband Richard, III and the late Wayne Burkart. Loving grandmother of Richard Richter, IV and his wife Amanda and Susan Richter and great grandmother of Jaydin. Dear sister of the late Robert Hammett, Thomas Hammett and Dorothy Hobencamp. Dear sister-in-law of Marilyn Burkart and Virginia Hammett. Visiting at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. All will meet at Clinton Avenue Reformed Church, corner W. Clinton Ave. and James St., Bergenfield for the funeral service at Friday at 10:30 AM followed by interment at South Church Cemetery in Bergenfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tomorrow's Children, Hackensack or VNA Hospice of Englewood Hospital.
