Arthur J. Ballway, 97, of Bergenfield, NJ passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, surrounded by his family in love at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ.
Arthur was born in West New York, NJ on October 15, 1928. He graduated from Memorial High School before serving in the Army during the Korean War. Soon after returning, Arthur started his career with Public Service Electric & Gas Company where he worked for 39 years. Arthur worked for PSE&G from June 26, 1953 until his retirement in June 26, 1991.
This quote by Michael J. Fox best describes Arthur's greatest joy in life. "Family isn't an important thing. It is everything." His family meant the world to him and truly was his greatest joy. All he needed in life was laughter and spending time with his family.
Arthur was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Theresa Ballway ne'e Mackey, his eldest daughter, Patricia Bonomolo ne'e Ballway, his parents Arthur F. Ballway and Gladys Ballway ne'e Donnelly as well as most recently his younger sister, Dorothy Barakat ne'e Ballway.
Arthur is survived by his three children, Jane Skiba (Michael), John Ballway (Dawn) and Debra Ballway (Cathy); his cherished grandsons, Kevin Bonomolo, Brian Bonomolo, Jake Ballway and Lance Ballway; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends and family at Riewerts Funeral Home in Bergenfield, NJ on July 2, 2026 from 4-8 pm. Funeral mass will be Friday, July 3 at 10 am at St John's the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church also in Bergenfield. Burial will immediately follow at George Washington Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
