Carmen Torres was born in Lares, PR to Juana and Albert Castrodad. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Harden and her husband Burt, her daughter Adrianne Duffy and her husband Jack, her grandchildren Morgan, John, Bryan, Tyler, Erin and Daniel, her brother Joe Santiago and sister Rosa Roman, her best friend/“sister” Maria Janow and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Raymond Nieves and Frankie Santiago and loving partner Frank Cardona.
Carmen lived in Puerto Rico until she was 5 years old and then moved to New York City with her mother and sister. She graduated from George Washington HS in June 1961.
In 1963 she got married and moved to the Innwood section of Manhattan. They had many good friends and neighbors there and had lots of great times.
She worked for American Airlines until she had her first daughter. She stayed home with her 2 daughters until they were old enough to go to school. In 1974 they moved to Bergenfield where she would raise her family. She started working for DialAmerica Marketing in the customer service department as a clerk and eventually became manager of the department. She retired from there after 35 years.
Family was the most important thing to her. She loved hosting all of the holidays, always an open door, laughing and cooking for all family and friends. She couldn’t wait to become a grandmother! She loved nothing more than spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved traveling, reading and gardening and attending her children and grandchildren’s events.
