Dorothea M. Verga

Dorothea M Verga 92 of Dumont passed away peacefully on December 28, 2016 surrounded by family. Devoted wife of the late Benjamin J Verga, beloved mother of Joseph and Judith Verga, Edward and Elizabeth Verga, Isabelle Verga Driscoll, Lillian and the late Joseph Graviano, Charles and Karen Verga, Dorothy Verga, and the late James Edward Verga. Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey and Shana Verga, Joseph and Janet Verga, Jill and Daniel Tabor, Brian Verga, Eve and Mario Valente, Nicholas Graviano, Benjamin Graviano and Ana Mendez, Nicholas, Kevin, Jack, And Julia Verga, and the late Alison Verga, and great grandmother of Jake, Zack, Connor, Cole, Kianna, Aidan, Kateri, Joseph, Cecilia, Noah, James, Michael, and Nina. Sister of Charles and Linda Van Zandt and Michael and Carol Van Zandt. She was an inspiration to the hundreds of youths who have known her through her dedicated service as a leader in both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in both Jersey City and Dumont for over 50 years, receiving the esteemed. "Silver Beaver" award from the Boy Scouts of America. She will always be remembered as a consummate volunteer serving in the USO during WWII, assisting the Dumont Ambulance Corp, and several other charitable organizations. Visiting Tuesday 4 to 8 PM at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave. Bergenfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bergenfield at 10 AM. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to HNMC Palliative Services or HNMC Villa Marie Clair would be appreciated.
