Eleanor also leaves behind grandchildren Julia Latimer (nee Wullen) and husband Steve, Jessica Wullen, Anthony Bottigliero, and Michael, Christopher and Michaela Cordes as well as great-grandsons Victor and Benjamin. Eleanor is predeceased by her brothers Edward, Richard and Henry and sisters Julia, Catherine, Joan, and Ruth, and leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

“Ellie” was born in North Bergen on September 4, 1928 to Henry and Julia Cordes. She graduated Emerson High School in Union City before enlisting in the United States Air Force where she was the only woman in her academy graduating class. Eleanor rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant and served proudly in her leadership role for four years. Upon Honorable Discharge from the service, she studied Psychology at Columbia University and served for 35 years at New Jersey Bell, rising as one of only a few women in management positions. She was a fierce advocate and proponent for the advancement of women’s rights in government and in the workforce in the state of NJ. Eleanor loved to travel but always held a special affection for the “Jersey Shore”. More than anything, Ellie loved her family...unconditionally and without end. Perpetually positive and fun-loving, Eleanor has imprinted memories of joy upon the lives of everyone who knew and loved her. She will be held in our hearts forever. Our loving mother, aunt, grandma, great-grandma and friend.

Eleanor will be laid to rest privately and a “Celebration of her Life” will be held in the near future.
