Eleanor G. Quadri

Eleanor G. Quadri (nee Villa) age 96, of Cresskill, NJ, (formerly of Bergenfield and Alpine, NJ), died May 13, 2022. Born August 31, 1925 in New York City to Amedeo & Jane Canevari Villa. She graduated from Bergenfield High School. She worked for W. T. Grant, in NYC, prior to getting married. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles John Quadri, Jr. (Buzz), in 2018, her parents and her brother, Robert A. Villa. Eleanor is survived by her children, Janet Quadri Rancan and her husband, Robert, of Cresskill, daughter Karen Quadri and son Paul Quadri, both of Bergenfield.
Eleanor was a loving and talented wife and mother, who could do anything. An accomplished artist, knitter, needle crafter and seamstress, she created countless sweaters, afghans, samplers, quilts, crafts and outfits, for her children, and family. A wonderful cook, she prepared homemade meals, every day - there was no such thing as takeout, on her table. Eleanor was a long-time member of the Alpine Women's Club (WSCS), working year long to craft items for their annual holiday sale, to raise money for various charities. She was an Alpine Public School class mother for her children, and her sewing skills were often put into practice when her children would “volunteer” her to make costumes for various school plays. She was an assistant Girl Scout leader, and a Cub Scout mom volunteer. She was the official “grandma” to neighborhood children, on her block in Bergenfield, baking cookies and remembering birthdays. She was a full time compassionate and tender caregiver, to her husband, Buzz, during the last, declining years of his life. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Therese Catholic Church, in Cresskill. Eleanor was a strong woman, who continued to drive, shop and cook for family, well into her 90’s. She had a determined & independent spirit, to thrive & survive, despite dementia, right up until the end. Her children, friends, family and caregivers (who she challenged, daily), will miss her. Visiting at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield on Tuesday from 9:30-11:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Therese R.C. Church, Cresskill at 12 noon. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Tenafly.
