Elizabeth C. McGarr

Elizabeth Callery McGarr, 64, of Bergenfield, NJ formerly of Brooklyn NY passed away peacefully on October 16, 2017 at the Villa Marie Claire. Beth was born on February 19, 1953 to the late Richard and Mary Ann Callery. Beth was the loving wife of Thomas, devoted sister of Richard and Barbara Callery of Staten Island, NY, Mary Ann and Jim Brennan of Nanuet, NY, Francis and Maria Callery of Warwick, NY and Catherine and Howard Crawley, Jr. of Freehold, NJ. Beth was the proud godmother to Dr. Erin Treemarcki, Melissa Garcia, Linda Callery and Christina Crawley. She is also survived by nephews James Brennan, Daniel Callery, Michael Callery, Matthew and Jonathan Crawley. Beth is also survived by her mother in law, Marcella McGarr, many brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews who she inspired with her kind heart, strength, ambition, optimism and determination. She will be greatly missed by all of her family. In addition, she was grateful to be blessed by the love and support of her dear friend Carol White. Beth attended Niagara University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1974. She worked as an RN at Einstein University in the Bronx and was a supervisor and started an oncology unit at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, NY. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Nurse Manager in Oncology (3B) at Staten Island University Hospital where she was certified in oncology and nurse management. Beth and her husband Tom enjoyed travel and were avid Mets, Jets and Notre Dame fans. She was also an active parishioner of St. Cecilia's Parish. The family will receive her friends on Friday, October 20th at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ from 4pm-8pm. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Cecilia's Church 55 W. Demarest Ave., Englewood, NJ on Saturday at 10 am. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ.
