December 8, 1958 – June 26, 2026
Ivette Correa, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, June 26th in Bergenfield, NJ.
Ivette was born on December 8th, 1958 in New York, NY to Angela and William Morales. She grew up in the Washington Heights neighborhood with her sister, Betty, many cousins and family members. Ivette attended Catholic school during her grade-school years, making life-long friendships along the way. She then studied marketing at New York University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree and graduated with honors from NYU’s Stern School of Business in 1980.
After graduation, she moved to the Kew Gardens neighborhood in Queens and met her husband and the father of her children, Ruben Correa. They married in July of 1984 and welcomed Danielle in 1985, followed by Gabrielle in 1987. After moving back to Washington Heights for several years, Ivette and Ruben wanted an improved life for their children. And so, the family purchased a two-family home in Bergenfield, NJ in November of 1989, along with Betty.
Soon after beginning her new life in New Jersey, Ivette took to the real estate business and devoted her career to commercial real estate property management. She remained with NAI James E. Hanson for many years, forming countless relationships along the way. No one was able to accomplish the things that Ivette could.
But Ivette’s true passion was spending time with her family, especially her two girls. She took Dani and Gaby everywhere with her and gave them an amazing life for which they will be forever grateful. When she moved to the suburbs, Ivette adopted the Bergenfield ways quickly and filled her calendar with numerous school activities, making more incredible friendships that her daughters will continue to carry on for years to come.
In addition to her various roles and pursuits, Ivette was a woman of faith. She attended mass for years with her family and served as a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) religious education teacher to countless Bergenfield public school students, allowing her to form further ties with her community and daughter’s friends.
A loyal New York Knicks and Yankees fan, Ivette rarely missed a game and was thrilled with the recent NBA championship win for the Knicks. When sports weren’t on the television, you could hear the sounds of salsa, Motown and other dance genres in the background, all while the most wonderful aromas from the kitchen filled her house.
In more recent years, Ivette took pride in her grandson, Logan – her very best friend and the joy of her life. Just when you didn’t think Ivette could give any more love, Logan came into the world and ignited a spark. He filled her life with sunshine, and it was a blessing to witness their precious bond.
Ivette is predeceased by her parents, husband and many loved ones; she is survived by her treasured daughters Danielle (Michael) Pichon and Gabrielle Correa; cherished grandson, Logan Pichon; devoted partner, Tom Vetter; loving sister, Betty Morales; adored nieces Lizette Lopez and Juliana (Mike) Failde and many other family members and friends.
Ivette had a heart of gold – she was as selfless as they come and repeatedly lent a helping hand and sympathetic ear to others, no matter the cost to her. She made everyone feel welcome and it is an understatement to say how fondly she will be missed by the many lives she touched in her wonderful life. May her beautiful soul rest peacefully in God’s eternal glory.
