John Thomas Curran

John Thomas Curran, 64, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018 with his loving brothers at his side. He was born May 2, 1954 to the late Thomas P. Curran and Eileen Curran-Othmer. He majored in Political Science at Villanova University and enlisted in the US Navy to proudly serve his country. He was a Surface Warfare Officer and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After his retirement, he remained in the San Diego area where he had spent a majority of his military career. In 2012, he moved back to NJ to be closer to loved ones. He is survived by his four brothers, Kevin (Susan), Michael (Theresa), Robert (Lisa) & William (Donna). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Kelly Ann, Thomas, Timothy, Taylor & Emily. He had a unique soul and was an advocate for humanitarianism. He loved sci-fi, comic books, was an avid reader and had a memorable smile. His family welcomes all who knew and loved him to join them at his viewing on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 2-4p and 6-8p at Riewerts Memorial Home in Bergenfield, NJ. Mass will be held on June 29, 2018 at 9:30am at St. Mary's in Dumont, NJ with burial immediately following at Maryrest Cemetary in Mahwah, NJ.
