JOHN A. ROCHE, 78, of Bergenfield, formerly of Union City, NJ, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Born January 4, 1943 in Astoria Long Island, NY, he was one of three children born to the late Anne (Hanmore) Roche from County Roscommon, Ireland, and the late Michael Roche from County Wicklow, Ireland. John graduated from St. Michael's High School and St. Peter’s College with a degree in Marketing. John was retired from The New York Postal Datacenter and was a proud Vietnam Veteran in the US Army. He was a devoted family man who never missed one of his children’s activities. He loved seeing Broadway shows, boats, and fishing. He loved traveling the world to places such as Europe, South Korea, Japan, and St. Lucia. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Bridget (McLoughlin) Roche from County Cavan, Ireland. He was the devoted father of son Michael, his wife Holly, son Brian, his wife Angela, daughter Catherine, her husband Nathaniel, and daughter Maureen. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew and Lucas Pelc. He was predeceased by his sister Anne “Nancy” Stein. He is survived by his sister, Geri Miller of New Milford, NJ, Brother-in-Law Phil Stein and his wife Florence, and nephews Michael Miller, his wife Maria, Robert Miller, his wife Maria and daughter Kyla, David Miller, his wife Maureen and daughter Elizabeth. Visiting will be Friday, June 11th at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 South Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ from 4 to 9pm. The funeral service will be on Saturday, June 12th at St. John the Evangelist RC Church, 29 N. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ at 10am, with burial immediately following at Westwood Cemetary, 23 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ.
