Linda Santelices Tabuzo
November 26, 1938 - January 21, 2024
Linda Santelices Tabuzo, 85, of Bergenfield, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 after a lingering illness with her family by her side. To her loved ones, Linda was known as Baby or Bibot because as a little girl she looked like a living baby doll, hence the nickname. Her many pamangkins (nieces & nephews) adored her and called her Auntie Bebs.Linda was born to Simplicio Tabuzo, Sr. and Pelagia Santelices on November 26, 1938 in North General Hospital in Manila, Philippines. She was the 6th of 9 children. After Linda attended La Loma Elementary School and graduated from Arellano High School, she went on to study at the Philippine College of Commerce where she earned a bachelor's degree in management. Linda had a long career as a secretary. While still living in the Philippines, she worked in the Malacanang Palace under President Macapagal’s administration. She also worked for Ateneo University and for P.A.E.C. Commissioner Dr. Librado Ibe before she immigrated to the United States in 1981. Linda enjoyed her life in New York City and worked at Raytheon USR (formerly known then as Ebasco Engineering Company at the World Trade Center). She happily retired after working for 30 years in one company under one boss. Linda lived a full and amazing life, especially after she retired. She traveled on pilgrimage tours to Europe and Egypt. She volunteered on medical and humanitarian missions through the Catanduanes International Association. She attended the Sunshine Adult Daycare Center in Bergenfield. She served at St. John the Evangelist, RCC as a eucharistic minister. She was also an active member of the Filipino Apostolate of St. John’s and the Women’s Corner Stone of St. John’s. Linda was always the life of the party and enjoyed dancing. She loved to dress up and never left the house without getting dolled up with make-up and nail polish on her long fingernails. On her younger days, she always wore 4-inch heels even to go to work. Linda’s kindness extended towards family back in the Philippines. She, along with her sister Martita, were firm believers in higher education and financially supported many of their pamangkins and grand-pamangkins in hopes that he/she will achieve their college degrees and in turn, attain a better life. She took pride and comfort in knowing that her legacy will be remembered as helping family experience a brighter future.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Simplicio, Sr. and Pelagia, her brothers, Jaime, Isauro, Amador, Honesto and Simplicio, Jr., her sisters-in-law, Correa, Corazon, Jacinta and Leonora, and her nephew, Salvador Joshua. She is survived by her sisters, Martita and Marcela, her brother, Maximino, her in-laws, Lydia, Manolita and Salvador, and the countless number of pamangkins and grand-pamangkins here in the U.S., in the Philippines and all over the globe.
