Maria F. De Froda

Maria DeFroda (nee Sabino), age 77, of Bergenfield, New Jersey passed away on February 9, 2016 from multiple health issues. Born in the Bronx, NY, Maria worked at the Bergenfield Recreation Center for over 30 years, where she touched many members of the community. She was a volunteer at Bergenfield Little League, running the snack bar, long after her sons had hung up their cleats. She is now in the loving arms of GOD and has been reunited with her parents and siblings, who predeceased her. She is survived by her sons Frank, wife Aileen; Michael, partner Scott; and her grandchildren, Steven, fiancée Eliza; Matthew, wife Marissa; Brianne and Rachel. She was an avid Bingo and card player and enjoyed being with family and friends. In addition, she liked a good movie, staying connected on facebook, playing Pogo, hearing or telling good jokes, watching TV and listening to music. Maria was loving, caring and kind to everyone she met and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Maria will forever be in our hearts and thoughts as we go through our days. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday February 20, 2016, at 2:00 pm at St. John the Evangelist Church, 29 N. Washington Avenue, Bergenfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
