Nancy Anne Spano, 55, of Bergenfield, NJ passed away in her sleep on the sunny morning of June 4th, 2022. Nancy Anne was born on September 9th, 1966, to Jack and Marie Burke. She grew up in New Milford. She was a jack of all trades, able to take on expertly whatever new adventurous career was presented to her. She went through life always up for a challenge.

She was a thrill seeker who fearlessly jumped out of airplanes hundreds, maybe even thousands of times, dancing through the sky just like she is surely doing now. She was always looking for ways to lighten the mood and have fun. She loved football season, watched all the coverage, and was a dedicated fan of the New York Giants.

She adored the simple pleasures in life: sitting outside when the weather was nice, a hot shower, a good movie, a home cooked meal. She loved a hot turkey sandwich with extra gravy, or a classic burger from the diner with fries and a side of gravy to dip those fries in. For dessert she loved creme brulee or a fresh vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles.

When she got sick later in life, she didn’t let that stop the love that she wanted to share with everyone who needed it. She was a loving and nurturing presence to all that had the pleasure of knowing her. She was playful and friendly, always ready to crack jokes with the nearest person whether they were a stranger or an old friend. She would sit on the phone with you for hours and talk about whatever you needed, or you could come by and sit across from her on the couch, and she would listen and always give the best advice.

Her door was open to anyone, whether it was for a pizza party, a taco night, or a shoulder to cry on. She wasn’t just a mother to her kids; she was a mother to everyone. But of course, she loved her kids most of all. She was always talking about how proud she was of Tia and Michael. She gave them hugs and kisses whenever she could, and rarely a day went by when she wouldn’t check in on them. She was there for them for whatever they needed, always looking for ways to make them smile. They will always smile at the memory of her.

She will be incredibly missed by so many, but her free spirit is freer now than it ever was before.

She is survived by her husband, John; her siblings, John, Mary Lou, Joseph and Kevin; her parents Jack and Marie; and her children, Antonia (Tia) and Michael. They will carry her memory deep in their hearts as will countless others.

Visiting will be held at Riewerts Memorial Home at 187 S. Washington Ave in Bergenfield on Friday, June 10th from 4-8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM.
