Pete R. Murphy

Peter R. (Pete) Murphy, 56, of Bergenfield passed away on February 24, 2018. Born in Teaneck, he was a decorated Police Officer, first working for the Bergen County Sheriff's Dept. then the Bergenfield Police Department retiring as a Sergeant. He was currently the Security Director for the Bergenfield Board of Education and an active member of Bergenfield PBA Local 309. Devoted husband of Denise M. Murphy (nee Barry). Beloved father of Patrick, Ryan and Colin Murphy. Cherished son of the late Paul L. and Catherine Murphy and son in law of Lillian and the late Carl Streeter. Dear brother of Cathy, John and his wife Monica, Robert and his wife Michele and the late Paul and Douglas Murphy and brother in law of Joseph and Adriana Barry. Loving uncle of Christina, Kelly, Adam, Michelle, Maison, Anthony Otto, Julieann, Hanna, Bobby, Capriana and Liam. Visiting Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave. Bergenfield. All will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM AM for the Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bergenfield at 12 noon. Crematon will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bergenfield PBA Local #309.
