Susan P. McGlynn

Susan McGlynn - March 23, 1944 to May 1, 2022

Susan “Sue” McGlynn (née Melican), 78 of Dumont, was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and caregiver. She left the world suddenly on May 1, 2022 at the age of 78. Born in Bronx, New York to Patrick and Patricia Melican, Sue was a 1963 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She met her future husband Brian (deceased) and moved to Dumont, NJ in 1977 where she resided for the next 44 years.

Always quick to share a funny story with neighbors, a joke at the pub, or a mint, Sue is remembered by many as a sociable, caring woman who always put others first. After a career in healthcare, she spent her time as an avid reader, spending time with family and friends. She leaves behind son James and wife Julia McGlynn, daughter Colleen and husband Matthew Lanza, five grandchildren Maggie, Brian, Nora, Brady, Reagan. She also leaves loving family--brother John Melican, sister Ann McKeon, dozens of loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and her loving feline, Ginger. Services will be held at Riewerts Memorial Home in Bergenfield from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on May 5, 2022. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Dumont at 11am on May 6, 2022. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tenafly, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to Dixon Homestead Library in Dumont, NJ, as their staff and treasured facility provided much joy and support to Sue over the years.
