Theodore J. Cancalosi, III

Theodore Joseph Cancalosi III of Bergenfield passed away on November 21, 2022. Beloved son of Cathleen (nee Pfeifer) and the late Theodore Cancalosi Jr. Loving brother of Kate Jakobsen Granger, Andrea Piazza and her husband Massimo. Beloved uncle of James Jakobsen Jr., Alessandra and Marissa Piazza. Ted was predeceased by his father, his brother Philip Cancalosi, brother-in-law James Jakobsen and brother-in-law Brian Granger.

A graduate of Jersey City State College with a BA in Fine Arts, Ted worked for many years as a Senior Craftsman Jeweler in the reproduction studios of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. When MMA closed their studios, Ted freelanced with discriminating jewelers such as Me&Roe before joining his father’s electrical contracting business.

The best son, brother and uncle a family could hope for, Ted was kind, principled, and generous. Never married, he traveled extensively with his sister Kate and her family, and enjoyed annual ski trips with his brothers-in-law adding his special sense of humor to every adventure. Ted attended every family party and always made the youngest in the clan feel special.

A head injury in 2008 changed Ted’s life in many ways, but his kindness, graciousness, and encouragement remained and he will be missed by the many lives he touched. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29 from 4-8 PM at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave, Bergenfield. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 29 N Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ on Wednesday, November 30 at 10 AM. Interment Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. Donations to Family Promise of Bergen County in Ridgewood would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
