Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Boylan (née Haiss) longtime resident of Bergenfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026 in Goshen, NY at the age of 96.
Ronnie was born on November 14, 1929 in the Bronx, NY to Henry and Marie Haiss (née Schloemer), the seventh of nine children in a tight-knit family. She is predeceased by her siblings: Marie (Jack) Hyde, Henry (Rucille) Haiss, Charles (Fr. Maurice Haiss, ST), John (Julia) Haiss, Agnes (Bill) Leonard, William (Nora) Haiss, George (Isabella) Haiss, and Catherine (Sr. M. St. Henry Haiss, IHM).
She moved to Bergenfield, NJ in 1964 with her beloved husband, Richard Boylan, who predeceased her in May 1997. It was here they raised their growing family, filled their home with love and welcomed family and friends with a generous heart.
Her legacy of love continues with her children: Matthew (Shelley) Boylan, Neil (Johanna) Boylan, Catherine (Steven) Hammerstrom, Jo-Ann (Anthony) Licciardi, and Thomas (Lynn) Boylan. And the circle grew wider with the addition of each grandchild and great-grandchild: Megan (Mitch) Stamm with Parker and Porter, Michael (Cayla) Hammerstrom with James, Logan and Peyton, Jessica Licciardi, Thomas (Sara) Hammerstrom with Evelyn, Eleanor and Zachary, Mitchell Boylan, Jacob (Anne) Boylan, Joseph (Sarah) Licciardi, Julia (Nicholas) Di Giugno, Rebecca (Todd) Pfeiffer with Cora and Sawyer, Mary Kate (Jirius) Abdallah, Kaitlyn Boylan, and Tessa Hammerstrom. Nothing brought Ronnie more joy than to be surrounded by the family she cherished.
She continued to be an inspiration to her many nieces and nephews and friends as she weathered the storms of life with her positive outlook and faith-filled determination. Whether you called her Mom, Aunt Ronnie, Grandma Ronnie, or Mrs. B. she had a gift of making you feel valued and loved. Leaving a lasting impression on all those who had the pleasure of knowing her, she will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
