William Fredricksen

April 27, 1950 — February 10, 2024

William “Bill” Stephen Fredricksen, 73, passed away peacefully February 10 in Philadelphia.

Bill was born on April 27, 1950 and raised in Bergenfield, NJ, where he graduated from Bergenfield High School in 1968. An outstanding student, Bill earned a full scholarship to The Cooper Union and graduated with a degree in Engineering in 1973. He later worked as a mechanical engineer at the Philadelphia Naval Yard for more than 30 years before retiring.

Bill was a lifelong sports fan and enjoyed watching the Jets, Mets, and Knicks win championships during his younger days. After moving to South Jersey for work, Bill continued his passion for sports and cheered on the Philadelphia sports teams. He was thrilled when the Eagles won their first ever Super Bowl in 2018.

Bill was an avid fan of science fiction books and shows, especially Star Trek and Dr. Who. He also collected coins and rare stamps and accumulated an impressive array of each.

A lifelong lover of music, Bill attended the historic Woodstock concert in 1969. He was a huge fan of Jethro Tull and named his beloved cockatiel Tull in the band’s honor.

Bill was predeceased by his father Robert Fredricksen Sr., mother Josephine Fredricksen (nee Strapac), and brother Bob Fredricksen. He is survived by his sister, Janet Franklin, and her husband Matt, along with nieces and nephews Jason Fredricksen, Vanessa Post, Monica Franklin, and Brian Franklin.
