Hermogenes Garcia, known to many as Hermie, Gene, Pa, Papa, and Apu, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 12th, 2020. Born on July 26th, 1958 in Masantol Pampanga, Phillipines to Natalia and Bonifacio Garcia. He migrated to the United States in the early 1980s to seek opportunity for his family.
Driven by enthusiasm and love for his growing family, he worked diligently to provide for them. His technical skill and amazing work ethic rewarded him in his career as an expert machinist, working about 30 years for Morgan Advanced Ceramics. He took tremendous pride in the work he did, but always with a humble perspective of how his work went towards a bigger picture of supplying technical ceramics for industries like medical supplies and aerospace.
As hard as he worked, he was equally easy-going. He was the life of every gathering of his very large extended family, not for attention, but to make all around him smile and entertained. His musical talents were always on display for loved ones, or anyone around him who he could tell loved music. His talent on the guitar was second to only his amazing singing voice. His light-hearted and playful nature was his charm, and his willingness to serve others went beyond the earthly means. He was incredibly dedicated in his church, the Iglesia ni Cristo, where he was an active member. Blessing the congregations he served throughout the years as a choir member, deacon, overseer, and eventually a Head Deacon, leading an entire congregation in all their needs.
Despite all of his dedication to his work, friends, large family, and faith, he never overlooked his responsibility as a husband and father. Ensuring he first provided for them, he always focused on the fun stuff. Jokes, food, affection, activities, videos and pictures, and even selfies, before they were even a thing. It was rare to get a picture without a funny face or at minimum, a big smile.
He leaves behind a large and grieving family, along with a growing extended family, co-workers, friends, church members, and a lovely wife, Bernadeth, three sons, a daughter, five grandchildren, and countless loved ones that had the privilege to know him.
As his entire family grieves this tragic loss, they reminisce through countless memories, pictures, and videos. His face more handsome than ever, jokes funnier than they remember, a singing voice even better than ever before. He really was pure and good in every way. He was a man who finished his race.
Visitation and interment are private.
